Coaching with a Big C: Tours of Self Discovery

Saturday, July 28th, 2007

Yesterday I completed the first day of my 23 day intensive NLP Life Coach training in San Francisco. I took a delayed flight straight into SFO and arrived at the hotel, bags in hand, in just enough time to check in and start the course. So what did I learn on this first day?

Why Are You Here?

I learned why I came. This may sound a little funny because I obviously thought extensively about taking a course before deciding upon this training, and I had all of my ready-made reasons for being here but in the coaching session I had to burrow deeper and in a more focused way than I did on my own. A coaching session reveals much more because you can hear yourself speak, the words you choose have significance, you are forced to be exceptionally clear so that you can be understood and this makes you develop an intense focus on yourself and how you relate to the subject matter.

Our first coaching session revolved around choosing a memory of a positive learning experience and then figuring out what you need to have in order to be prepared for learning. In my case, I am exceedingly clear on what I need to learn. In order to have myself in the right place I need lots of rest, exercise, meditation, food and space. I am so aware of it that I packed around all of these needs, so it was very front and center for me. This session did not bring those sorts of things out for me, it brought out why I came, instead, which is deeply interlaced with what I need in order to have a positive learning experience :)

The Memory

Only one memory came through really strong for me during the selection process of this exercise, so I knew it had significance although I wasn’t quite sure how. I saw myself very clearly in the Crossroad’s Music & Entertainment Boardroom. It was a Saturday so the studio was relatively empty save the skeleton crew necessary for mixing the first project from the Crist Family that the label would release. I was there as a manager to the group and to provide a bridge between them and the Executive Producer, Mickey Gamble. Our mission was to go over all the points and conditions of a recording contract and sign it.

In the memory, I was sitting next to Mickey, the other members of the group were seated around the table. I slipped out of myself, as this meeting was not about me in any way or form, or any of my personal agendas. This was about them, about the health of the two parties involved and about creating a synergy between the two that would allow them both to flourish. I merged into a place where I could see everyone and everything as equal, beautiful, real and connected. I clearly remember that shift as I was aware of these others (whom I love) in a very conscious way…I think for the first time I saw them as they truly are. That shift of perspective was the beginning of how I would later come to be in a life coaching class. Without realizing it I was following the trail to learning how to purposefully create that shift and I guess you could also say that these changes of perspective have become necessary for me to create a positive learning experience as well.

Through getting this memory and making these associations, it really started to click. It was shortly after the signing of this group that things began to change…I found myself moving toward a scent on the wind…a shift of the tide…a change in consciousness.

” Consciousness is the most stubborn substance in the cosmos, and the most fluid. It can be rigid as concrete, and it can change in an instant. A song can change it, or a story, or a fragrance wafting on the wind.” ~ The Fifth Sacred Thing

Attention Bubble: A Powerful Method of Self-Observation

Monday, July 23rd, 2007

Understanding how to use your attention is one of the most powerful tools for transformational change that you can develop. Because our attention is our area of focus, it reveals our dominant thoughts, our operating beliefs and what we really think is important.

In order to change that area of focus we need to learn how to contain it, shift it and create new scenarios which are more empowering and are in alignment with the life we know we were meant to live. In this article I’m going to outline a method that I use frequently; the Attention Bubble.

The Attention Bubble can be used to contain fearful images, thoughts or scenarios when you encounter them, it can be used to launch your dreams into the world or it can be used like a movie screen in which you simply observe your thought patterns, emotional responses and other internal processes. Its versatility has made it a favorite with me and of course, whatever works for me I’m happy to share.

You are the Camera

When I first started using this technique it all happened very intuitively, a deeply profound perspective shift like looking through the lens of a camera occurred. I found myself observing my own attention and what it was beginning to notice, watching it shift more and more toward that direction. I was looking at this process from the outside of it instead of the inside. So the first step in using the bubble is to take the perspective of the camera and be the observer of your own attention.

Using the Bubble to Contain Your Attention and/or Thoughts

One of the best uses I have found for the bubble is as a container. An example of this can be found in my Experiments in Manifesting post in which I used the bubble to contain my focus when I noticed an imbalance in my foot while I was running on the treadmill. If I had not used the bubble my attention would have been pulled into the pain, allowing a temporary imbalance to become a full-fledged problem.

The bubble can be used to hold your attention while you find a more suitable direction. In the case of my foot situation, I used the bubble to hold my attention until I figured out a course of action…which was to flood the area with healing light, to see healing hands massaging it until it glowed, until I could see my spiritual body, perfect and whole shine through the surface.

To hold your attention in the bubble pick a nondescript focal point such as a shiny spot on a wall. You are looking for something that won’t stimulate thought yet is interesting enough to hold your attention. Once you have it, imagine looking through a camera lens. In the circle of the lens you see your focal point. Slowly that circle turns into a large bright soap bubble. Hold it until you no longer need it…then imagine it pop.

To use the bubble to contain a thought simply see your thought clearly, now imagine a shiny, iridescent soap bubble forming around your thought. Your thought is now trapped inside the bubble. Take a several deep breathes and with your exhales watch as you blow the bubble higher and higher. It floats away from you until it either pops or disappears.

Using the Bubble to Manifest Your Desires

You can also use the Attention Bubble to manifest things you want to bring into your physical reality. I love doing this! There are a couple of methods you can use to manifest a desire using the bubble, which you choose will depend on the visualization technique you are most comfortable with. Start by visualizing an image or scene of your desired outcome (see yourself living with it as a real possibility).

As this scene or image develops imagine a soap bubble forming around it almost like a crystal ball or if you have seen the movie Labyrinth(this dates me a tad, and yes, I am very fond of this movie), you will know exactly what I am talking about.

It is like watching a movie contained in a beautiful transparent sphere. Imagine the sphere moving up and over your head. See white light coming down from above you. Flood the sphere with all the energy and light you can channel while watching the scene. See it move higher and higher, becoming one with the light as it travels up to heaven…release it to the universe with joy, knowing that it has traveled into the world of energy…the world in which all things first appear…a mirror to our own reality.

Using the Bubble as an Observation Screen

The bubble can also be used for observing thought forms. For example, I am about to embark on a 23-day trip away from my family for intensive NLP & Life Coach training. I have never been away from my children for this long, so one day I noticed my attention wondering toward fearful thought forms of being alone, trusting others to care for them, allowing them to have experiences of which I am not a part and allowing myself to experience apart from them.

Rather than let my attention be absorbed completely by these fears I decided to use the bubble as an observation screen. In this way I could still experience and accept what I was feeling, without becoming the feelings. I could then develop an awareness about what was going on that would allow me to separate fears from facts and come to a balanced place of trust and peace.

To use the bubble in this way you imagine yourself looking at your mind through a video camera. Use the camera to follow your attention to the thoughts and emotions that are playing out before you. In the circle of the lens, see the brightly colored soap bubble develop…the bubble is now your camera view.

Allow the thought forms to play out and then hit the pause button. Ask yourself about the facts of the situation and list them out. Doing this will make the opinions or beliefs you hold around the situation easier to notice. See these opinions…as you focus on them they dissolve in the light of your attention.

Hit the play button again and let the scenario unfold with just the facts, hold the expectation of all things good and pay special attention toward developing a perspective that can find it. With one great exhale of truth, peace, balance and acceptance, turn off the camera and watch the lens close…leaving the outcome with trust…to the universe.

Getting into the Real You

Friday, July 20th, 2007

Are you in your own way?

Whether you’re developing spiritually, psychically or pursuing some other kind of self improvement you will of course encounter yourself…and your success will hinge on whether or not you can let the totality act through you and get out of your own way. If you have a strong ego the answer is…probably not until you learn to get over yourself.

The story of who you are is usually not who you want to be.

Most of us walk around with a story. This is the story of who we are. Then there is another story…the story of who we want to be. Most of have trouble believing the story of who we want to be because of the discomfort caused by who we think we are presently and an unwillingness or inability to face our own thoughts and beliefs about ourselves. This is the highest challenge that the ego presents. So how do you get around this?

Get over yourself!

Get over yourself…what does that mean? It means that the real story lies in creating a new you in this moment, right now. Nothing exists outside of this moment. So whether you use this moment to dwell on the story of who you’ve been in the past or who you want to be in the future you are still missing the mark and you are still in your own way. When you get over yourself you let both of those stories go…and create right now in this moment a new way of relating to yourself.

Be kind to yourself.

The way you relate to yourself will be reflected in your relationship with others and ulitmatly with life. One way to break down long term beleifs about your own worth and many fears and insecurities is by being super kind to yourself. Allow for your needs, work and play in ways that acknowledge and accept them. Give yourself and body care. Make time for you. By doing this you open yourself to the good available in the world. It will change the way you feel about yourself and everyone else. When we allow loving acceptance of ourselves for just being us instead of having to pass some worthiness test we’ve invented to keep us feeling bad and in essence in the grip of the ego, the ego lessens in strength and we become more receptive to our true relationship with life.

Getting in the way of your own spiritual/psychic development.

Growing spiritually and or psychically definitely requires you to develop a new relationship with yourself if you want to go very far. To receive, you have to become a vessel, which means you are relatively empty of content. In this sense content is the story of your self. In order to receive psychic or spiritual information you have to be able to temporary get out of your own way…becoming one with the totality of all that is.

But what happens when you come back? This is the perfect opportunity for the story to come in and operate through the information you received. Can you separate what you received from your own thoughts and judgments about it? Can you learn to deliver the message without getting in your own way?

Of course you can, all it takes is a deep awareness of your own internal landscape. This allows you to be true to the information, to see when your ego is in operation and to know it for what it is…a story, a fear, an insecurity, a sense of feeling small, etc. Which really only reflects a belief in separation and a need to re-connect. At this point you re-connect before making your delivery…another method is to allow for your own opinions but to make the distinction between inner commentary and the actuality of what you received. This means your awareness has returned and you are seeing your own internal processes clearly.

The paradox of thinking you are the center of the universe verses being the center of the universe.

When we are stuck in our personality or our ego we think we are the center of the universe but we don’t know it and we can’t feel it, so we need constant reassurance of it through the world. This is direct evidence that we may think it but we don’t believe it, in fact we are afraid we are wrong. In this state we attempt to prove our way out of fear through substance…any kind of substance will do; success, achievements, money, sex, food, drugs, things…we become collectors, driven to accumulate…and stuff ourselves full of whatever we can to escape the uncomfortable feeling of underlying fear…but here’s the paradox.

You can’t feel it because you believe you are not it! You believe you are small and insignificant because you believe you are separate from God. If you can get underneath the thinking, the beliefs and the story of who you think you are…you will discover that you really are the center of the universe because you are an inseparable part of it. Once you know that, feel it and comprehend this truth…you understand that you have access to all that was ever created, is currently in existence and all that ever will be created. From that place there is no lack…there is nothing but fulfillment…no reassurance required!

This is getting over yourself, over who you think you are and getting into the real you :)

A Psychic Encounter with Princess Diana

Wednesday, July 18th, 2007

Introduction

Considering how much people all over the world loved Diana, sharing my encounter with her is not something I do without a form of hesitation. It is only through Diana’s reassurance that this is the reason she came to me (attracted by my main spirit guide Laura, a powerful queen of stately measure accustomed to aristocracy) and the trust I have developed in my own psychic experiences and urges that I do this…my personal growth would suffer if I did not…so really it wasn’t much of a choice ;)

Diana wants people to know the soul behind the face of the beloved princess, her purpose for entering our world and that she is with us still…impacting us in an even bigger way now, from beyond.

Opening the Channel

This encounter started with a treadmill routine which isn’t all that shocking considering that I use the treadmill to raise my vibration as long time readers know from my good vibrations post.

It is fair to say that some of my most unusual psychic experiences actually occur while I am working out. This event in particular began with an onslaught of images from my life dramatically displayed. Right outta nowhere, I was shown pivotal people in specific interactions, was flooded with a full gambit of intense emotions and witnessed soul rings in formation. I was taken by such surprise that I backed out of the scene for a moment…the images were disturbing to me but at the same time it didn’t feel like I was viewing real sequences from my own life but rather someone was using creative images of my life to communicate with me…why are you showing me this? I asked, talking to my higher self and guides.

In a claircognizant moment I knew. Diana, the Princess of Wales, was trying to communicate with me. I had inadvertently opened a channel to her while gazing at her photo when I picked up a Reader’s Digest from the floor to put it away, prior to my workout.

She expected me to immediately end my routine to communicate with her…when I did not, she adopted a sideways posture in which she turned her back to me in a slightly indignant manner and said, it is not everyday that an intuitive gets a visit from the Princess of Wales! We both laughed at the petulant quality of this statement. Admittedly it isn’t an everyday occurrence, that much is true, but seeing how she came to me for a reason I felt it was best to prepare. She agreed and the conversation below, followed…

Interview with a Princess

PK: What do you want to tell us?

Diana: The truth.

PK: Did you choose to be a Princess?

Diana: Yes. It was all part of the design. It is important for people to know that there is a circle of tightly bound connected souls in my life…we came with interconnected purposes…we agreed to have certain relationships with one another for the benefit of those purposes. To them and that purpose I am bound still.

I chose to be born into the family I was for a reason. I chose to experience an emotionally painful life so that the privilege, which was necessary to accomplish my mission, would not interfere with it.

One could say that my physical self could not take this world, but my spiritual self was inseparably connected to it. I absorbed the pain of my fellow humans, developing a deep connection to the world’s suffering…yet only partially knew how to answer this. I was aware of my life purpose as a humanitarian, but I had difficulty sustaining that purpose without the status and station which supported those efforts. When I lost what my insecure physical self had used as an identity, I entered the collapse of that self and lost my grounding.

My life ending how and why it did is viewed as tragic because so many were on some level aware of and responding to me. Death to the personality means the end, but it does not work that way in actuality. I am still working, using the love that was generated within my lifetime to stir people.

People responded to me because deep down inside they knew that I was here to expand their ability to love and care for one another…it had little to do with Princess Di.

PK: Do you consider your life to be tragic?

Diana: No not at all. It was filled with pain but that is not tragic. I’ve spent a lot of time wandering other places in this world - everywhere there is pain. I still work to fulfill my soul’s mission to end the madness and help human beings return to a place where they no longer damage one another.

PK: You say return, that implies we’ve been there already?

Diana: Yes, we have been…but when we take on physical form we forget. We become locked in patterns. I came to help break some of those patterns, to change people’s thinking and to open their eyes to the fact that what happens in the world…happens to us all. My life and death were a perfect example of that.

PK: What does the life of Diana mean?

Diana: It means perfection is not required to make a difference in the world. It doesn’t end with physical reality. Don’t think about whether or not you can…just open your heart and participate.

PK: What do you want to say about how you are remembered?

Diana: I am here. I watch people and reach my hands into the physical world through their memories. The connection is profound and it is one that I am working through every time I am recalled, remembered, talked about, written about or referenced. Remember me…but more importantly remember why I came.

Experiments in Manifesting

Monday, July 16th, 2007

Yesterday I conducted some experiments in producing instant manifestations. The results proved something that I have known at a deep level for a long time…that our beliefs about the way the things we create can enter our physical reality are what dictate how long our manifestations take to enter the physical plane. Manifestation actually occurs instantly…if we allow it to.

For example, lets say you want to manifest something large and life changing. You have unconscious beliefs about how long it will take to manifest what you are asking for…you may even believe on many levels that you can’t have it. It takes a lot of warming up to a large manifestation to wear down those beliefs until you can actually see and feel your manifestation in a way that moves it out of a concept in your head and into an actual life possibility for you. This is all mind work though and has nothing to do with the universes ability to answer your request…but it has everything to do with YOUR ability to receive it!

For these reasons I want to share some techniques that through repetition help wear down unconscious resistance to the things you want in life and in the process, prepares you to receive them.

Starting Small

A great way to practice is by starting small. Starting small often earns you the position of experimenting without running into limiting beliefs and allows for some success with these processes very quickly. In this way you see the principles working, how they operate and how you interact with them.

Yesterday, I performed several experiments with starting small to see what kind of instant manifestations I could produce on the fly. Please read through and understand the entire process before experimenting with this.

The first was while meditating in the early morning. I asked the universe to show me our connectedness in the form of wild animal appearing that I would not ordinarily see, then I closed my eyes and continued to raise my vibration. A few minutes later I heard a distinct chewing sound to the left of me only to lock eyes with a young deer less than four feet away! I watched it for some time as from my energy level of connected wholeness, I was just a part of the landscape and completely non-threatening to it. It had a partner a few feet off and they stayed nearby until they heard the voice of my daughter calling from inside the house.

My second instance occurred while running on the treadmill. I began to experience a sharp, stabbing pain in my foot. Knowing that if I held my attention on the pain I would make it persist, I placed a mental bubble around my focus for a moment and considered my course of action. I decided to visualize white light all around my foot. I chanted the mantra light, light and saw nothing in my mind but universal healing. The pain immediately subsided and did not come back. I repeated this process for any areas of my body that were stiff or having difficulty and instantly all issues resolved.

These are examples of instant manifestations that occurred because I had no set belief systems in place regarding when they would come and are a perfect model of manifesting on a small scale to gain confidence in this process. Try manifesting parking spaces, green lights, telephone calls, checks in the mail, smiles and any other small thing throughout your day that you can think of. We start by honoring the smallest things in life because little is actually very big!

The Process of Manifesting Through Resistance

You can manifest your way through resistance patterns by taking steps to soften your mental positions and beliefs. These techniques slowly but surely bring you from a place where it is intended but not possible to an actuality for your life.

Step One: Define Your Mental Image

Defining your mental image is getting a clear internal picture of what exactly it is you want…plain and simple. If it is a new home for instance you might start building your image with what is most important to you.

When we were moving I knew well in advance what my next home needed to have so that I could be balanced. The single most important factor to me was the property. I needed space and a strong sense of nature. I wanted that space to be wide open near the home but very private, natural and insulated from the surrounding properties. Another important thing was water. I really connect and balance through the sound of water and I wanted a large waterfall on the property. For the house we needed a minimum of three bedrooms, a decent commute and good schools.

We had a very clear image of what we wanted as we went house hunting and we saw dozens of properties. It looked as if we would not find what we were looking for and if we did, that we would not be able to afford it. We simply stuck to our criteria and our knowing of what we wanted and needed. The house appeared after we sold our old house in Arizona and moved into temporary housing in Washington, where my husband’s new job was located. It was everything we asked for and even more affordable then we had expected.

Step Two: Practice

Practice living your manifestation. This may sound a bit strange but when you mentally practice a manifestation, you soften the unconscious resistant belief patterns you hold about this area of your life and strengthen your ability to allow your desires to enter. One of the best ways to do this is to use visualization as a way of experiencing the new life of your manifestation. You can do this while meditating, in dreams or in daydreams.

Visualization is a lot like daydreaming. In a visualization or daydream you construct your manifestation mentally and spend time exploring it, creating a vision of living an alternative path in life. If you are a lucid dreamer, it works in much of the same way but instead of constructing a vision you construct a dream. If you do not know how to lucid dream, you can still use the dream platform by visualizing or daydreaming about your manifestation before you go to sleep, as this will often lead you to dream about it and can sometimes give you one of those delicious dreams involving your manifestation in which everything feels so good that you can’t stop thinking about it when you awake.

These dreams are gifts…so use them by allowing yourself to re-enter that dream mentally during your waking hours. Don’t stay too long, just stay long enough to make it real, get a good feel for it and leave with gratitude for having experienced your manifestation on this level…if you stay too long you run the risk of feeling your manifestation’s absence which will only strengthen your resistance to accepting it because your energy will be resonating with lack.

Step Three: Make it Physical

Once you are adept at making it real on a mental plane it is time to move it into physical reality. In this way you can get creative and move toward a more concrete version of your manifestation, effectively taking it out of your head and into your world.

A great way to bring your vision into the physical world is through journals and vision-boards. In a journal you record a written chronicle of the visualizations, daydreams and lucid or regular dreams you have been using to practice your manifestation. You can even take it a step further and create a story of what your life will look like when it comes into being.

A vision-board is a more visual version of this (hence the name). Most people buy some poster-board and then cut pictures and words out of magazines or off the internet, assembling them into a collage that represents their manifestation. This visual manifestation collage is usually then hung up or displayed in a place where it will be seen regularly and can act as a constant reminder of the life the vision-board’s creator is manifesting.

Making it physical can be done in many ways. You can draw pictures of it, you can paint it, sculpt it or sing it. Use any medium available to you that helps you joyfully express it as long as it uses your creativity and there is something physical about your expression. This is an enormously powerful way to use your mind without being limited by it. Creative expression allows you to side-step all the beliefs in operation that do not coincide with your intentions by using your imagination to make your request of the universe from a place that suspends your normal beliefs. A place of possibility, a place full of magic, where anything can happen…and usually does ;)

Step Four: Take Action

Once you’ve gotten this far, it is time to start being the person who recognizes a manifestation such as the one you have in mind. You become one with the opportunity and thereby see the energy and where it is flowing.

Start each day with an affirmation of the good that is your life, each day express gratitude for all that you have currently and state your desires of the universe accordingly.

For example, if you want a new job you do not want to approach the universe with the thought forms of how terrible your current job is…you will be projecting the energy of that job instead of the job you want. This kind of judgment holds where you are…essentially sucking the potential out of your requests. Say instead, I strongly believe that this job is not suited to me. I now find a job that matches my natural abilities, fills me with peace and a sense of purpose.

Affirmations are a great way to keep you in alignment with the energy of your requests.

In step four you make your move, knowing that the work you have done to manifest has gone out before you and all that is required of you is a little right action. It IS already here…and it IS already yours. You simply walk out to meet it, and bring it home :)

Remember Where You Came From: Conversations with Erin Pavlina

Friday, July 13th, 2007

Erin Pavlina is one of those rare lightworkers who came into this world with a memory of where she was before she incarnated. With her grounded, straightforward, compassionate, loving and aware way of being, Erin brings a knowing into the psychic world that provides it with a sense of legitimacy.

Erin’s goals revolve around taking her understanding and insight into the worlds of energy and consciousness and using them to help human beings achieve universal love, awareness and peace. In the following interview Erin talks about her mission, developing her psychic ability and remembering where she came from

PK: What are some of the techniques that you found the most helpful for developing your psychic abilities (i.e. exercises to stretch your awareness, meditations, etc.)?

Erin: Consciously listening to my intuition was the first step. I actually practiced listening to my intuition. The more I did this, the stronger it became. It got to a point where my intuition was like a guide riding around on my shoulder warning me of danger or guiding me through tough situations. Once I mastered that type of communication, I did a guided meditation to find my higher self. Being able to talk to her directly allowed me to tune in to my purpose more easily. She helped me develop my “antenna,” so to speak, so that I could hear and see other helpers from the ether such as angels, spirit guides, and celestial beings. Once that door was opened it was just a matter of turning up the volume on my “psychic radio” and tuning to the right frequencies. I do a lot of work on my chakras, and I still visit with my higher self several days per week to see if she’s got any messages for me and to make sure I’m still on the right path. I always seek to stretch my awareness. Lucid dreaming and the occasional astral projection help me stay conscious.

PK: Where did you learn these techniques (i.e. who has influenced your development)?

Erin: In my teen years I used to read a lot of occult books. I was interested in astrology, psychic development, crystals, ghosts, past lives … pretty much anything in the New Age section. Shirley Maclaine’s Out on a Limb series did a lot for my interest in all things psychic. But I’ve always been very self motivated to learn, study, and understand the paranormal because I was having so many experiences as a child.

However, since becoming a professional psychic medium I’ve begun trying to study from more established people like John Edward, James Van Praagh, Gordon Smith, Doreen Virtue, and John Holland. I’ve learned a little something from reading each of their stories, but I’m also finding that my path is very unique. My guides train and teach me most of what I know. And I learn a lot just from experience and practice.

PK:  I’ve heard psychics refer to their guides taking them through something similar to a spiritual training class.  Please describe this process, how it starts and your personal ideas about initiating such training with your guides.

Erin: When I first began doing psychic work for others, not just myself, at first I was only hearing snippets of information, like a one-line message for people I was reading for. I was very clairaudient at that point, so I could hear spirit communication easily. But I told my guides I needed to be able to see, as well, so that I could accurately describe deceased family members coming through during a reading. They facilitated that, but I had to make sure I was open to it too. As I got going with the readings, my guides literally showed me how to tune in better. They took me up a celestial staircase that led to a White Room. I call it the White Room because it is just pure light in there. Inside is a special guide that helps me tune in specifically during readings. Occasionally my guides will inject a new technique or take me to a new place to do a reading; to connect at a higher level.

When I first started receiving communication from deceased relatives, they would come to me in my White Room. But I was unable to find them on my own; I had to wait for them to come to me. So I worked with my guides on finding a way to reach out to deceased relatives that had crossed over long ago and were not hovering. I still can’t force anyone to come through, but I’m able to “call long distance” now. :)

PK: Has your psychic ability been forged through the process of ‘remembering where you came from’?

Erin: Definitely. For many years I had this memory of where I was before I incarnated. I could remember the conversation I had with my guides and other wise beings about what I would do while incarnated. But during my whole life I thought that couldn’t possibly be a true memory. When I finally opened myself up to the idea that it could be is when I finally started to embrace the yearnings I had to help others. I didn’t know it would take the form of being a psychic medium, and I still consider this ability to be just one tool in my belt. My true mission is to help bring this planet back to a state of love, peace, and compassion; to remind us all that we are One, and that what we do to others we are really doing to ourselves. When you remember where you came from you remember who you are. You remember that we are all One. And you stop hurting others.

PK: How has this changed your life and what do you hope this remembrance will give to others?

Erin: I believe that if people remember where we all come from they will immediately stop harming each other and our planet. A great awakening and shift in consciousness will take place. And that’s what I’m here to help facilitate, as are many of the Lightworkers on this planet who are incarnated now.

PK: I view psychic ability as reading energy.  My experience with it is that you tune in to your truth if experiencing your own energy or the truth of the energy of the person you are reading.  This energy is translated into something that your spiritual senses can receive.  People often ask if what is received can be proven or is true.  My take is that truth is relative and that what is received is what is needed to help someone to move forward in a particular area of their life…their truth may not be another person’s truth…but the part of them that knows will look inward and they will see something that clicks with their path and where they want to go.  What is your understanding of this concept?

Erin: When I tune in to someone’s higher self, guides, and angels, they pretty much just tell me what they most want my sitter to know. The very first thing I do in a reading is let the guides speak to my sitter. The message they share is so important to the overall well-being of my sitter. Usually the message connects very specifically with my sitter’s main reason for contacting me. But sometimes the message is something they were not expecting and they sometimes want to reject it. By the end of the reading, or maybe even a week or two later, they usually get the message. It’s life-changing! It’s like finding out the corridor you were following is going to lead to a dead end and having the opportunity to correct your course before you have to experience that dead end. I’ve had people tell me that their guides’ message helped them more than years of therapy ever did. Your guides know you. They can see what you’re doing and where you’re headed. And they can help you make course corrections. One reading can save you years of heartache.

As for proof and validation, when I am tuned in the guides will often provide my sitter with some profound validation that I am indeed speaking to a higher being. Recently during a reading someone asked, “What can you tell me about my health?” I immediately heard one word shouted at me: “thyroid.” So I asked her if she had a thyroid condition. She said, “God, you’re good! That’s my problem exactly. I have Grave’s disease.” Some people ask me, “How did you know?” To which I reply, “I didn’t. They did.” I only pass on what I hear.

I am honored and privileged to do this work. I am grateful every day to my higher self, guides and angels, and to Source for supporting and allowing me to help people on their paths. It fulfills an agreement I made before I incarnated, an agreement I take very seriously.

I hope you enjoyed these conversations with Erin Pavlina. I encourage anyone who wants to open up to their own psychic abilities and/or god connections to book a reading with her and have blogged about my own experiences after having done so. On that note I’ll end this post with a message that came through when I connected with Erin’s guides to formulate the questions for this interview:

“Light and dark are two paths to the same place…learn to love them both equally. Embrace the darkness and love it, enjoy it as truly as you enjoy the light…do this and you will overcome fear…no dark place can hold any power in the light of love…a person who truly loves all is the source of their own light.”

Who am I?

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

The following is an excerpt from an automatic writing session…

You are a sound, a frequency, a wave, a note of the divine. All life moves with the song of the universe. You are a dance, a motion, a rhythm, a light, a beam…you are a thought, a spark emanating from the mind of God.

Why do my dreams sometimes seem more real than when I am awake?

Your mind knows no difference because the only thing that IS real is energy. Energy forms thoughts, the world around you, the content of your dreams…the life you think you know, the life you want to live, your aspirations, your fears…all just energy.

Which is real?

The one you think is most real…the one you believe in the most becomes real through your attention because THAT IS THE REALITY you are tuning into…but in truth their are many paths available.

I feel confused. How do I know I’m going the right way?

You know because there IS no wrong way. All ways lead to the same place…growth, continuous change, variety, adaptation…GOD. You can not go the wrong way but you CAN choose how you will go.

Will you go at a vibration that causes you and those around you to suffer or will you go in a way that brings joy and ease to those around you or perhaps you are like most people and you bounce around in-between?

The how is up to you…but there is no wrong way…you are always in charge of what you will experience and the universe views all experience as having value.

But I don’t know what to do! How do I get clear?

By allowing yourself not to know….and then realizing that of course, you do know. When you acknowledge the belief or the energy form that you have created of NOT KNOWING, you release it from blocking all the knowing available to you.

You are inseparably connected to all the known and unknown factors in existence at all times…you are always in the natural state of knowing all things at once. What separates you from that is the belief that you are separate…indeed you are not, so when you can see the belief it ceases to operate unless you consciously choose to follow it. A conscious person can not choose an obvious falsehood over the truth.

Celebrating Others

Sunday, July 8th, 2007

As we approach the summer months in which there are so many parties and birthdays I thought it appropriate to write a post about celebrating others. How do you celebrate the people in your life? Do you throw parties, buy gifts or do you put a lot of energy toward creating things they enjoy?

Many times we get so caught up in the what that we forget about the how

Choose Your State of Consciousness Before You Choose Your Gift

What you do to celebrate others is not as important as the state of consciousness you use to design the experience. For some people it may be a gift that pops out at you as you’re shopping, for others it could be making their favorite dish, playing their favorite games or engaging in their favorite activities. Your gift will be most effective (for both giver and receiver) if your choice revolves around a connection with joy.

Take my happy-homebody husband, for example. He loves being at home and immensely enjoys the house and yard. He is happiest experiencing a phenomenal meal, playing video games, watching a movie, working out at the gym and exploring interesting places that are sure to offer comforts of luxury, fun or natural beauty. He loves technology so this kind of thing always makes for a good gift but most often he needs to obtain these things for himself, so I tend to take a different approach.

On the special days in which I celebrate my husband it is all about service. I make two of his favorite meals, which due to their complexity are not served regularly and top things off with one of his favorite desserts. Enjoying every moment of the day becomes our meditation, so we spend our time languidly doing what he loves most and this never fails to bring on an exceptionally good mood with lasting effects. What I’ve come to realize from performing this simple ritual of celebration is that I determine the value of my giving by consciously creating my experience.

Methods of Celebrating

I choose to celebrate my husband in this manner because it is what most effectively connects him with joy but as with any gift-giving the full potential is not realized unless I connect as well. I could easily make this a chore and stress myself out over all the demands on my time; but instead, when I make the choice to give someone else my attention for the day, I surrender to it and I will think of nothing else.

My mission is to serve lovingly, so I pull the joy and love that is readily available in the universe, up into myself, and channel it through my activities…becoming a vehicle for the Source energy that is always flowing to enter the lives of others, through me. I do the same when celebrating someone with a gift.

When buying a gift for another person I hold them in my heart, raise my vibration and then flood my mental image of this person with Source energy. In that state of joy I choose a gift that resonates with the vibration I am getting for them. Sometimes I will get a scene playing out in my mind, for example last Christmas I walked by a hat in Wilson’s Leather and saw my father-in-law clearly on a hiking trail wearing it. Needless to say I purchased it and in one of those moments of synchronicity (I absolutely refuse to consider price-tags when I find an obvious energy match) the salesman happily announced that the hat was reduced in price, making the purchase less than half of what was marked on the sales tag…good thing I wasn’t terribly concerned or I never would have brought it up to the register to begin with :)

Obstacles or Opportunities?

Of course things do not always go with such synchronicity. Sometimes when you’re out looking for a gift the things that seem right are not available. This can cause a lot of stress if you become fixated on the outcome instead of paying attention to the process. What is life trying to tell me with this situation? Is a question you can ask at these times. Do not buy into the poverty consciousness that chants… that was your last chance at finding a suitable gift! Try to be fluid, flexible and know that when one door closes another opens.

In this abundant world there is no way that was your last chance! Anytime this has ever happened to me and I decided to focus on the opportunity hidden in the situation instead of the obstacle, it has always worked out effortlessly and the gift has been very well received. In fact, the usual response of the recipient has been one of surprised want and need - of course I had no idea if they had any interest at all in the item…I was merely following the energy ;)

The trick lies in focusing your attention on where the energy flow is presenting itself and looking at the walls as signposts that are saying don’t go this way. You can then be grateful for the obstacles and the direction they are providing for you, knowing that you will be led to a solution that feels good and is an energy match to your state of consciousness. We attract what we give attention to…by focusing our intentions on our energy connections with the universe we can answer each others prayers…our generosity then becomes a divinely appointed extension of light and love!

An Interview with Spiritualist Slade Roberson (Shift Your Spirits)

Wednesday, July 4th, 2007

The interview you are about to read was influenced by a psychic experience in my bathroom. One morning after a powerful meditation I decided to take a shower and perform an energy bath cleansing.

I had already submitted my questions to Slade, so I was surprised when Laura (my guide who connects me to the guides of others) interrupted me with an urgent message from one of his guides.

Slade’s guide showed me the image of the Virgin Mary and the relationship of child to mother. She wanted him to talk about his experiences with Mary and she was quite adamant that people need to hear what he has to say. The following interview grew more detailed from this experience. Despite concerns that it may be too long, we chose to trust the guides on this one…

PK: Many people have a primary mode of receiving divine guidance that comes through really strong. When did you first discover your clairaudience? And perhaps even more importantly…when and how did you begin to trust it?

Slade: I experienced what I would later come to identify as clairaudience from childhood. When I was really young, there were several episodes where the voices I heard were “classically clairaudient” — startlingly loud, unbidden, seemingly external, and having no resemblance to the subtler “still small voice” that you might normally dismiss as being “just the sound of your own thoughts.”

These earliest, extreme incidents revolved around warnings and danger — my little brother was accident-prone and narrowly escaped potentially serious or even fatal events. I first became aware of my guides and guardians in those moments. “Don’t go in there!” “Get out of here, now!” “Grab him!” That kind of thing.

As I grew up — as I was educated and, more specifically, socialized — I picked up really quickly that this was not “normal” and I spent most of my life terrified of being identified as “crazy” and ending up institutionalized for claiming to hear voices. I honestly feared that destiny up until about a year ago. It’s a fear I haven’t completely shaken, but I’m working through it.

When I was eight years old I became obsessed with three figures from history — The Virgin Mary, Joan of Arc, and William Blake. I read everything I could find about them. I was particularly interested in their childhood experiences — their claims to have communicated with angels. What happened before the great achievements for which they are known to us? What did they feel like before they told anyone what they’d seen and heard? I supposed I was comforted by the Source, which was ultimately benevolent and divine. Even as a child who had very little exposure to Christianity — and absolutely zero exposure to Catholicism — I pondered what is was like in a very real, everyday, biographical sense to be someone who claimed to hear the voices of angels. To this day I feel that there is much more to Mary’s story than what we know; her story jumps from the Nativity through a few walk-ons, a line or two of dialogue, and then on to a big tragic ending with a pieta. In Hollywood terms, if she ever had any major scenes, they mostly ended up on the cutting room floor. I feel that those missing reels must have included the drama of being socially ostracized.

William Blake died penniless and unrecognized in his lifetime. And, of course, I was painfully conscious of Joan of Arc’s martyrdom. I burned a couple of Fischer Price Adventure People action figures at the stake working through that Story. :-)

I didn’t begin to really trust my mystical experiences until I had to — when I found myself in mortal danger.

PK: Was there a significant experience that set you on the path of digging deeper into your abilities?

Slade: Absolutely. Considering the backstory I’ve just told you, maybe it won’t seem like such a shocker when I tell you that the Virgin Mary showed up in my living room.

In 2003, every component of my life began to collapse — my intentions of working as a psychotherapist hit a brick wall, I was diagnosed with a serious terminal illness, countless “mystery” illnesses, I lost my job, I lost friendships… You name it; it all came crashing down around me at the same time. I literally had a stroke, at the age of 34. My body rebelled against all the stress. I woke up one morning partially paralyzed — the left side of my face, my left arm. It took close to a year to recover about 95% — and in that time I became agoraphobic. I didn’t want to leave the house; because of vanity, more than anything, I didn’t want anyone to see me.

In desperation, I turned to alternative, holistic healing — I went to a yoga class to connect with my body and had a total meltdown. Maybe it was one of those Kundalini Awakenings I’ve heard people talk about — whatever happened, whatever might have been blocking my channel, it exploded. It was like someone suddenly cutting on an amplifier at excruciating top volume. The messages, the clairaudience, the intuitive information came through more loudly and clearly than I would’ve wished. The presence of spiritual entities — whom I recognized as having always been there — was unavoidable.

I underwent MRI’s — they found no neurological damage — but I knew what was happening was not brain damage or hallucination. If you’ve experienced powerful hallucinations, or panic attacks, or flashes of intuition, you know that they’re simply not similar. The scary stuff is scary, hallucinations are disorienting — epiphanies are intense, but they’re CLEAR.

The first thing I heard the morning after my yoga meltdown was the message “You are in danger. If you don’t make powerful adjustments to your path, you will have another aneurism. The next one will kill you.” I believe they said I had twelve days.

I turned back to a lifelong faith — praying to the Goddess to heal me — with a volume and dedication that I’d never attempted before. Now, something that’s important to understand — I had already established two decades worth of spiritual practice, entirely in neo-pagan traditions. I was also a graduate student in clinical psychotherapy. I was very comfortable in my highly “intellectualized” system of belief.

But I was praying for a miracle — beyond anything I’d contemplated or learned. I swear to you, no one was more shocked than me when the Goddess responded and showed up in the aspect of the Blessed Virgin Mother. The Christian Mary. And these entities that were attending me revealed themselves to me as angels in her service. In order to even process the experience, I had to throw out my belief system and start from scratch. There simply was no denying that these voices were… angels. There’s no better word for them; it’s a concept that transcends faiths, cultures, and human history.

I had to accept that my complex, intellectual understanding of the psyche and the soul was seriously OFF. In many ways, I’ve discovered that the most popular, low-brow, simple-minded perceptions of the supernatural are sometimes a better fit — the most straightforward way to describe what I experience.

I believe with all my heart that I was physically healed by Mary’s divine intervention, that I am protected by her, and that I am here to serve a greater purpose — a part of an agenda bigger than me and beyond my understanding.

PK: When did you realize you could use this gift to help others and how did that come about?

Slade: The answers I began to receive in response to praying were undeniably specific and detailed. As I moved through the crisis, the messages once again shifted to warnings for people that I knew. It was actually my failure to trust the messages on a few occasions that convinced me to act on the gift. Because of fear and pride and vanity, I talked myself out of relaying these messages — and a few times, realized after the fact — in horror — that I had missed an opportunity to help people save themselves. When I acted quickly and put my ego-motivated discomfort aside, the results were powerful. I began to trust the messages because NOT trusting them and following through was even worse than the fear of someone thinking I was nuts.

I remained a recluse for a couple of years and out of necessity began to look for ways to work from home. It just so happens that the only work I COULD do at that point coincided with the work I most wanted to do. Having run out of alternative detours in my life path, I discovered the only option left. I began to pursue writing, web design, and publishing as my last, best hope — also as an instrument. The mission Mary prescribed for me was two fold — to share my personal experience on a global scale, but also, more importantly, to teach others how to harness technology to broadcast their own missions.

I still spent a lot of my energy as a web designer, marketing consultant, editor, copywriter, and a professional blogger on everyone else’s businesses and projects. I became adept in the technology that would power my purpose, but a meaningful personal project of my own was still missing from the mix. Mary also wanted me to write a book.

In 2005, my guides started telling me that I had to put all my fears aside, become my own client in every respect, and come out of the psychic closet, once and for all. Until I did that, everything else I spent my energies on would only have limited success.

In February 2006, my friend John asked me to attend a trance-channeling session with Dr. Meg Blackburn-Losey. I was hungry to see into the lives of people who called themselves psychics, channelers, or mediums — to get a sense of how I might model my mission after theirs. It was immediately confirmed for me that the entities — the Ascended Masters — who Dr. Meg channeled were entirely familiar to me. I recognized what was happening. I recognized Them, and They me.

Through her, They spoke directly to me with the same message. The externalized source confirmed what I already knew. I’ll never forget what they asked me:

“You are already everything you’ve ever wanted to become. You fulfill your life purpose with every breath you take. How long do you intend to stay in your Tower, learning, practicing, preparing, contemplating, when sharing what you know could benefit so many other people?”

It was like a guilt-trip straight from God. :-)

That question ultimately resulted in starting my blog Shift Your Spirits [link: http://sladeroberson.com/] about six months later — to find an audience for my experiences, and my Marian memoir. It was really only after I began writing about my experiences and doing readings for other people that I got a clear sense of how I could impact others on a larger scale. In April 2007 I abandoned my web design and blog marketing consultation business to work exclusively with other spiritually motivated authors through a second publication called Spiritual Blogging [link: http://sladeroberson.com/blogging/]

PK: Guides communicate through a language of energy using images, sounds, scents, tastes and or just a knowing that we must tune into our spiritual senses to receive. Please describe some of your most significant experiences with learning to use your spiritual senses and decipher the symbolic language your guides speak.

Slade: I haven’t so much learned the language my guides speak as I am developing a language with them. They know more of my language than I do theirs. But overall, it’s a kind of immersion — discovering a common denominator of communication motivated by need, in the moment, on the fly. There’s no one to teach it to me first — I learn by living it. More than anything, we teach each other — it’s a language that’s constantly evolving and emerging — it’s a creative process. I might compare it to learning to communicate with a pet, or the private language created between close friends, over time. The key shift in perspective for me was to move from learning it as if it exists as a language outside myself to co-creating it. Like dream symbol interpretation, there may be many similarities between what a particular symbol or image means for you and for someone else — but there are no hard-and-fast rules. You have to look within the context of your inner world. What does the symbol mean to you? When does that feeling, sign, sense repeat — for you? Why does the repetition get your attention? What does it feel like it means? You have to step to the side and observe the laboratory of your unique reality. A sign in a reference book is only one general interpretation — start there, but don’t stop. Let tradition or another person’s process inspire you — but see that it’s only a jump-off point.

This is such a complex and entirely custom process — I feel that I’m always dancing around this and unable to pin it down. There is an art to it. I can lead you toward finding it for yourself, but it’s a little bit like leading you to create an amazing painting or writing your own novel. When I finally listened to the advice of other psychics — stop using divination tools, they’re a crutch, they’re limiting you — my channel expanded. Even if I could write it all down in a symbolic dictionary or reference guide — the literal interpretations would only work for me. To some degree, it’s a language no one else will ever speak but me and my guides.

Your goal should not be to learn my language, but use it as inspiration to learn your own.

PK: If you could give one piece of advice to those wishing to connect to their own angels and guides what would it be?

Slade: Trust that you are not missing anything.

There’s nothing “outside” your experience to bring in. There’s no secret ingredient that you’ve yet to discover that’s not already there. The secret shift is entirely your perspective. You DO hear your guides. You ARE receiving divine messages every day, all the time. Release your expectation of what those signs are supposed to look like or what those messages and voices are supposed to sound like. The signs and messages and symbols and nudges are all right in front of you. It’s an Easter Egg hunt — messages are hidden in plain sight. If you feel you can’t hear the answers, step back and look at everything you’re already hearing and start asking “Which of those sounds are my divine answers in disguise?” Don’t discount the really simple, common, everyday stuff — that the answers you seek may be piggy-backed on emails from friends, or a passing exchange with a stranger at a convenient store. Maybe this interview is providing you with one of those answers, right here on this page. Maybe it’s the television show you just happen to catch while channel surfing. Maybe it’s the song that’s stuck in your head. Maybe it’s the bumper-sticker on the car in front of you…

Start wondering. When you go looking for these answers, these signs, these divine communications, preface every thought with “I wonder…”

Don’t expect a booming voice from heaven accompanied by a thunder-crack and an ethereal beam of light. Sometimes, you get these Big episodes — but generally, it’s just not that extreme. You’re not likely to experience many of those bigger-than-life scenarios.

Look at everything in your conscious awareness as if it hides a clue, a piece of the puzzle, a fragment of a mosaic. What magic is masquerading in the mundane? What wonder are you dismissing simply because it seems ordinary? You ARE hearing voices, messages, language — look at everything that represents a voice, a message. Consider all the possible vessels and forms of information you are bombarded with.

Look again at everything that might be speaking to you — it is.

PK: What would you like every person out there know about divine guidance?

Slade: Divine guidance is not supernatural — it’s super-common. It’s everywhere. No one is excluded. You can exclude yourself by making choices based on fear or self-doubt. How might your life change when you decide to behave as if you are divinely guided? Because you are. If you knew who walks beside you, you would have no fear. Whose permission do you require to create the life you want to live? Permission granted — please proceed.

PK: And lastly if you could give everyone out there one of your own experiences to help them expand and understand, what would it be?

Slade: If I could give — literally transfer — some of my experiences and the emotions that accompany them, they would all be shifts in perspective:

The magical daily existence that comes from the decision — the choice — to live your life AS a miracle.

The comfort and the release from fear that comes from knowing that you are never alone.

The success that comes from creating the life you want to live — even — maybe especially — from the challenges that break your heart.

The simple, direct truth that you are already everything you’ve ever wanted to become. You fulfill your life purpose with every breath you take. You aren’t missing anything. There’s nothing extra to acquire. You can transform the life you are already living into the powerful spiritual experience you know it’s supposed to be with a choice.

Messages Through Time

An Unusual Book

The other day I received a book of my family history written by a second cousin who has been researching our roots for over twenty years. After dozens of trips to libraries, actual homesteads in Colorado and Wisconsin, and a trip to their country of origin, Germany…she put it altogether in a privately printed hard cover book that she sent to the interested family members she was aware of.

When I received this book I delightedly thumbed through the history and photos of all the people and places, it fills in the gaps and provides the background that my memories of sitting and listening to my maternal grandmother recall her family needed to re-create their lives. But also a part of me was alert to just how significant the timing of something like this is…I got quiet inside and listened to my blood stir.

The Wrong Ernst

The next morning during meditations I visited my great, great, grandfather Ernst. I asked an angel to help us meet (out of respect for the fact that he was a very strict Methodist in life). He answered my questions in stoic German fashion (sitting straight backed in an uncomfortable looking wood chair, dressed in a suit with his hands placed firmly on his knees). During this meeting a swirl of grayish-blue energy began to whish about the room wildly…as I followed its movement, my great, great grandfather looked toward it mildly with no change of expression whatsoever.

This grayish-blue swirl had a definite ’spirit’ energy so I asked it to identify itself. It simply said, “I’m the Ernst you want. I have a message for you.” I knew immediately that this was my great grandfather Ernest. Slightly puzzled by this inconsistency in his name, I pushed past it and prepared to open myself to hear what he had to say. I discovered a few days later that his real name was Ernst (before it was Americanized by a first grade teacher due to the World Wars and hostilities toward German-Americans at the time).

Once he had my full attention he started sending me images. The first he sent was a picture of an airplane flying and then an old train running on a track. The image shifted to a landmark I recognized, panning around the unmistakable flat-topped beauty of Grand Mesa, CO before focusing in on a farm which he had imprinted with a heart. He showed me a wooden box sitting in front of a small house. The top of the box was not completely flat, he drew my attention to that and showed me how it bowed upward slightly, then he switched my focus to a large, distinct brass latch, and the metal on the corners of the box. He showed me the box opening and though I could not see anything inside I was experiencing the overwhelming sense of treasure…of something wonderful and undiscovered, then he whispered, go…get the box and left me with the feeling of being engulfed by one of my grandmother’s hugs.

My spiritual nostrils were filled with her comforting and familiar scent (something that has set me at ease since I was a child), and then in a flash he was gone and I was left staring into the eyes my great, great grandfather who was still sitting in the uncomfortable wood chair. In silent communication we both knew that the real purpose for our contact had been fulfilled, so I thanked him and the angel who had assisted me in connecting with him and they took their leave. Though Ernest was gone I could still feel his presence so when the others left the room I quietly assured him with…o.k., I get it…I’ll go.

The Mysterious Box

I wasn’t sure at first what all the messages meant but I knew I needed to plan a trip to travel to Colorado and go visit my grandmother in the nursing home. Of that much I was certain, so first I checked train prices. This route didn’t feel right because the prices were so high, so I decided to check on the other image and see about traveling by plane. I found that several airlines had some really good deals going around my grandma’s birthday…again I did not find this coincidental. While checking in with my aunt who lives near my grandmother and looks after her, I uncovered another piece of the puzzle.

She had also received the book from our cousin and during the course of the conversation I told her about my meditation, the box I was shown and how this spurred me to plan the trip. She asked me if I had ever seen Ernest’s old travel trunk. I indicated that I had not and she quickly told me the story of his wood travel trunk and how after he died it fell into my grandmother’s possession (my aunt suspected this was the same trunk he used to travel on the train to their homestead in Cedaredge when he was fourteen…which explained a lot of the other imagery I was shown).

My grandmother tried to bring it home but my grandfather would not allow it in the house (he was convinced Ernest’s spirit was living in the trunk) and since they had not gotten on well while Ernest was alive he was not interested in seeing how it would play out now that he was dead.

Eventually the trunk ended up in storage in my aunt’s ex-husband’s barn…my aunt was left wondering if she should try to get it back (her son and her ex-husband were currently not on speaking terms so she was uncertain how receptive he would be to letting her come and get the trunk). I told her that it is impossible to know what will unfold but one thing is certain…the trunk played a significant role in Ernest’s communication with me and he wants us to try to get it back.

The Nature of Spiritual Assignments

The next day in meditation I spoke with Ernest again. This time he was calm. He appeared as his younger self, sitting back in his chair with his arms folded across his chest and one leg propped up on the opposite knee while thoughtfully holding a pipe. I asked him more questions to which he said simply that he would not say more until I went on my trip to Colorado…then he returned his gaze to the window as if passing the time.

It is the nature of spiritual assignments to come in segments. You get the first task and you must complete it before you will be given the next. The hardest part of this process is trust…it is difficult to take action on blind faith at first but once you have done it enough it is hard to imagine not taking action.

What’s in a Name?

I am descended from a line of German immigrants. They were carpenters, farmers, blacksmiths and clergymen. Their names can be found as far back as the 1600’s in the church records of the German towns in which they lived and they built a church in nearly every town they settled in after immigrating. Eventually they bought some land in Cedaredge, CO. After clearing, improving, building and planting they created a very successful orchard and packing business that gave employment to much of the town.

I’ve heard their stories for a good part of my early life and having met some of them I can see a connection to and understand the meaning of their last name; a proud or high spirited person…it’s this spiritedness that connects us. I feel the connection down to my higher self and in their lives I see reflected some of the reasons I chose to incarnate through this family.
